Artist History
A graduate of Bowdoin College with a degree in Visual Arts, Kristen Ambrosi refined her aesthetic sensibility through early positions in magazine publishing and marketing for a reputable design firm. A lifelong passion for the creative process and fluency with realism established the foundation from which Kristen now leans into abstraction. Years of exploration have inspired the evolution of Kristen’s current work - themes of fluidity and freedom characterized by color, form, and beauty.
In her profession as an expressive painter, Kristen focuses on creating both collections and commissions. The commission process is individualized and collaborative, incorporating design elements and inviting client feedback as layers emerge. Collections explore whatever emotions are arising in the artist’s heartspace, communicating through visual language what is found through that ongoing inquiry.
Artist Process
Kristen enjoys the meditative process of painting, blending colors on the palette or on the canvas, concentrating on small details and then letting go completely with broad washes.

She explores the oscillation between deliberate choices and relinquished control, and the ongoing dialogue between hand and heart, image and eye. She incorporates scripted words, draws linear marks into softer masses, and uses breath to direct the paths of dripped paint.
​
Searching always for meaning and metaphor, Kristen approaches each canvas with interest and intent, works through the places where everything feels unresolved, and strives for the satisfaction and peace that comes from bringing a piece to harmony.
