Gifted an opportunity to travel with beloved friends to experience a homestay in Switzerland, each moment yielded a landscape abundant with waterfalls and alpine hillsides, reinforcing the exquisite and extraordinary beauty of an untouched planet. I was in bliss in all that green, with everything in spring bloom, even the clouds delightful in a world of rainbows and wildflowers. This piece is an ode to that trip, a poem for the planet and the fragility of our environmental future, and its inspiration yielded a sophistication appropriate for all things Swiss. Terra cotta rooftops, moss-covered stone grottos, fields of delicate petals amidst tall grasses - all are here. The superlative experience of swimming in glacial water was brisk and memorable - that is here as well. Pastoral idealizes country life and captures our yearning to stay forever in that beautiful, pure place. It also bows to my sister circle and the giving of spiritual guidance we each receive and share through so many of life’s seasons… If ever there was a place to feel aligned with the divine, a mountaintop within view of Lake Maggiore and a panorama of multiple countries was pastoral perfection, filling the heart with an awe this canvas can only hope to capture.
